                                                              ASSOCIATE ENGINEER

The Engineering Services Group, Facility Development Section currently has one (1) opening for an Associate Engineer (Mechanical or Chemical) within the Treatment Plant Design Team.

This position will be responsible for the design of water treatment plant facilities with an emphasis on process design. The work typically includes process design calculations for chemical feed systems including ozone, sulfuric acid, caustic soda, polymers, alum, chlorine, ammonia, fluoride and other chemical systems; preparation of process flow diagrams and preparation of design details and specifications for water treatment facilities and water distribution systems projects; and testing/commissioning of treatment plant equipment. Some drafting and field work may be required.

Other responsibilities include:
• Performing technical analyses and providing recommendations to support planning, design, construction, infrastructure reliability and/or operational issues.
• Preparing and reviewing design criteria, plans, specifications, submittals, cost estimates, and budgets.
• Performing site and construction inspections and other related Engineer job duties as required.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (Alternate Fridays off)

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer II level; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience which must have been at the Assistant Engineer II level.

• Knowledge of Engineering principles, practices and applications in specific discipline (Mechanical or Chemical); project schedules and budgets; applicable federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations related to area of responsibility; and current office technology and equipment. Manufacturing and construction means, methods and equipment; applicable engineering design software.

Certificates:
• Engineer in Training (EIT)

Licenses:
• Valid California Class C Driver License that allows you to drive in the course of your employment
